Chizzy: Your Virtual Friend for Navigating Remote Work Chaos

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about an unprecedented shift in the way we work, with many companies opting for remote work as a long-term solution. While this has its advantages, it also brings a set of unique challenges, including maintaining productivity, staying motivated, and ensuring employee well-being. In response, our design team embarked on a project to create an online resource to help remote workers overcome these challenges and thrive in their work.

Why is the topic of well-being while working remotely so important nowadays?

While remote work can offer greater flexibility and autonomy, it also has its downsides, including social isolation, difficulty maintaining work-life balance, and increased stress and burnout. Our team works entirely remotely, and therefore, we are familiar with the problems of self-organization and productivity. In our project, we aimed to address these issues by providing tips and tools to help remote workers take care of their physical and mental health, stay productive, and find a sense of balance in their work.

Who is Chizzy?

Our project, called Chizzy, is an online resource designed to help remote workers stay organized, focused, and happy while working from home. We created a landing page that features a friendly character named Chizzy, who shares his own experiences with common remote work challenges, like procrastination, distractions, and work-life imbalance. Through simple and humorous tips, Chizzy provides practical advice on how to overcome these obstacles and build a more fulfilling and productive work routine. 

Chizzy was created by a small design team, a designer and an art director, without using any code. Usually, cool ideas with a "wow" effect are hindered by a huge budget and long deadlines (as a large team is involved).

One of the key challenges in creating our landing page was finding a way to make it visually appealing and engaging — without breaking the bank. To achieve this, we leveraged a range of online design tools, including Readymag, Figma, and Spline, which allowed us to collaborate in real time and create a seamless, interactive experience for users. By using these no-code tools, we were able to build a high-quality landing page that looks and feels professional, without requiring a large budget or extensive coding skills.

In doing so, we have validated our views and practices for remote teamwork and collaboration and demonstrated how to achieve maximum effect with minimal means.
