The Innovative Transformation of Cinescope's Admin Interface
We embarked on an ambitious project to enhance the functionality and user experience of the Cinescope online cinema. While Cinescope uniquely blends two business models — functioning as both a traditional online cinema and a distributor for other cinemas and online services — managing its vast array of content presented significant challenges. Singula, with some assistance from Evrone, developed an innovative solution to streamline Cinescope's operations.
Challenges and Objectives
Cinescope's platform required meticulous management of film rights, user-friendly content navigation, and an efficient system for updating movie information. The existing Bootstrap-based content management system needed to be improved as the service expanded. Our team, recognizing these challenges, aimed to revamp the admin panel to simplify the processes of movie management, cataloging, playlist creation, and license distribution for partners.
Solution Development
We spearheaded the design of the new admin interface, treating it as an entirely new product. This approach involved collecting detailed business requirements and user pain points, understanding the nuances of the existing system, and prototyping new designs. To optimize development time, the new interface was planned around existing, well-functioning components, with Evrone contributing to the design process.
Functional Requirements Gathering
A critical step in our methodology was the comprehensive collection of functional requirements from all potential admin panel users. This involved numerous meetings with Cinescope's content team and product managers to understand the desired functionalities and associated data types.
Innovative Features
- Advanced Movie List: Our solution made it easy for content editors to find, filter, and understand key content details without delving into individual movie or series cards. A sophisticated filter system was developed, allowing for multi-select options and real-time search results.
- Color-Coded Licensing Notifications: To manage film rights effectively, a color-coded system was introduced to indicate the remaining duration of movie licenses at a glance.
- Streamlined Movie Card Creation: The movie card creation process was optimized for efficiency. Content editors could quickly pull in data from external databases like Kinopoisk or IMDB, with autocomplete features for frequently used data. Unique features, such as watermark embedding for copyright protection and format decoding for different resolutions, were also integrated.
License Management: A critical component of the new interface was a comprehensive license management system, highlighting active licenses and any gaps between them, and facilitating license distribution to partners.
Outcome and Impact
The collaboration resulted in a highly efficient and user-friendly admin interface for Cinescope. This new system not only streamlined the content management process but also reduced errors through its intuitive design and notification system. The project significantly enhanced the operational efficiency of the Cinescope team and set a new standard in online cinema administration.
